An article in The Big Issue magazine about a vendor called Kelvin Gregory inspired me to draw this comic strip.
Kelvin's pitch is at Somerset House on The Strand in London. I've never met the guy (as far as I know) but his story and his words in the 12-18 December 2016 edition of The Big Issue touched a chord with me.
I empathised with the fact he'd become homeless after a break-up, related to his love of dance music, and admired the positive way he talked about his new partner and his student customers.
I particularly liked these words:
"Whatever knocks you down, you can always get back up."
"I still believe in a better society. I'd like to live in a world where people are a bit more understanding of each other - a bit kinder. I think Big Issue vendors do a little bit to break down barriers."
If you see Kelvin, please buy a copy of The Big Issue from him. And say hi from me. Thanks.
