Today I took my 'inner artist' out on an 'artist date' (Julia Cameron's words, not mine). We went for a walk on Eastbourne beach. I recorded a short video.
I descended slopes of shingle and walked along patches of sand. Waves broke on the shoreline and crashed into wooden groynes. Seagulls soared overhead. I took photos.
I noticed that the edges of one of the groynes had been rounded off; carved by seawater repeatedly flowing over it. I ran my hand along its smooth surface and admired its wave-formed curves. I drew it with a 3B pencil.
The date was a success. My inner artist and I have exchanged numbers and will be seeing each other again next week.
