Often I steer clear of global politics and humanitarian disasters as inspiration for cartoons. There's little inherent comedy in them, I tend to think. But occasionally I spot the opportunity for a joke. Not a laugh-out-loud gag; more an uncomfortable, hold-a-mirror-up-to-society type jest.
This is the first cartoon that I've drawn on Bristol board. And the first time I've used a Sharpie fine point marker and Letraset ProMarkers for a cartoon. I think they're fantastic tools. Thank you to those people who recommended them to me. You know who you are.
