I was at a 40th birthday party recently and I said hello to an old friend of a friend (name changed to protect his identity).
I immediately regretted it.
Not only do I have several photographs of him from that holiday, but I vividly remember helping him to pack his bags on the final morning as the cleaners were coming in because he'd overslept.
I also recall that he freaked out at the airport when he realised he'd left his passport in the villa, and had to rush back in a taxi to fetch it.
I'll treasure those memories always.
