I think it's healthy to decompress after work. Rest. Relax. Recover.
Some days when I am working with young people with special needs I barely sit down for more than a few minutes, and I'm on high alert the whole time the children are in the building.
So when I step out of my car and step into my house, that's when I clock off. That's when I climb the stairs, drop my rucksack on the bedroom floor and lie down on my bed.
Sometimes I nap. Or just close my eyes. Other times I check my mobile phone for messages. Whatever I do, I make sure I rest. I don't move. I don't talk to anyone. I don't listen to anything. I just rest.
Because I know that after a while I will feel like getting up, eating something and talking to someone. I will feel human again. Soon.
